Tuesday, September 28, I had a date with a new mom and hubby, Mandy & Marcus - being induced - at Saint Francis Hospital. Well, their little guy just didn't wait.  Text message around 4:00 - water broke, going to hospital. Text message 6:00 - probably around midnight. Text message 8:00 - dilated to 5. Getting epidural. Text message 9:00 - not yet. Text message - 10:30 p.m. - dilated to 9, getting close. Text message 10:45 - if it's not too late can we get some pictures? Off we go! Arrived at Saint Francis around 11:00 p.m.. It was quiet. Three girlfriends in the waiting room. Mothers in the LDR. Marcus waiting patiently with Mom. There's a limitation of visitors but.... We did get admonished a few times for loitering outside the door. Listening for the arrival. There were bets among the girls for delivery time. - No winners.  Finally, at midnight, girls crowded around the door, cries ring out. Paxton Harold Middleton arrived into this world at 12:03 a.m., September 27, 2010, weighing in at 7 lbs, 12 oz and screaming at the top of his lungs. Who could blame him, huh? LOTS of commotion followed and then finally, I couldn't stand it any longer and I just went inside, got clearance and this is what was there.  Sweet, eh?  I love the shocked looked on a newborn's face, changing to resolve, finally acceptance, and then quietness and peaceful sleep.  Pax means peace.  I think that's a lovely way to start out your life. In peace. The added bonus . . . this little one is one of ours - we'll need another chair at Sunday dinner!  Welcome, Paxton! Watch his slideshow here!
